Bankruptcy under Chapter 7 is known as “liquidation.” Under Chapter 7, my clients usually keep all or most of their property and/or home equity through California’s generous exemption scheme. If filing for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy makes legal and practical sense for you, we will prepare your petition and schedules and file them with the bankruptcy Court. At this point, the automatic stay will go into effect. Any further communications from your creditors will have to go through our office.
